EMBRACING YOUR INNER SEA GODDESS
In Greek Mythology, the Sirens were dangerous creatures, part women, part bird. These creatures lived on a remote island surrounded by rocky cliffs & would lure sailors with their enchanting voices to shipwreck. The Sirens were the perfect combination of beauty, musicality, power, & seduction. "With the voice of a bird, she enchants, with the features of a woman, she deprives of reason - voice & sight alike deal destruction & death."
Simply put - Sirens are not to be fucked with.
In a way, Sirens are the most bad-ass version of women everywhere. These breathtaking, mysterious creatures are a force to be reckoned with & I believe we should all embrace a little more of our fellow sea creature's best qualities. What I admire most from these ethereal goddesses, is their ability to portray such purity & grace, while being capable of such powerful (although quite destructive) actions. Sirens have the power to calm the strongest of winds & yet stir up one hell of a storm just like that. Women have that same effect.
Maybe it's due to all of the estrogen filling our bodies, or our emotional tendencies ranging from cool, calm & collected - to - raging fire from the depths of hell, but we're pretty good at preventing crises when needed & releasing our wrath when we see fit.
As I get older, I become more & more proud of my femininity, my sensitivity & my womanhood. I find strength in my vulnerability & a sense of community & companionship among other women. As women, we share this unbreakable bond, we understand the trials & tribulations, we know the stories, we've lived them. We share the struggles, yet we know just how capable we are - we know our strength. We are like silk.
Silk is smooth, soft, yet extremely strong.
Silk is comfortable, practical yet beautifully luxurious.
Silk is like a Siren. The perfect combination of beauty & power.
Just like Sirens, women find strength in numbers. Any girl can attest that a positive friend group is everything & having fearless ladies by your side who exude self-confidence & draw your best qualities out of you can have a huge impact on your self growth as a strong independent woman ...who don't need no man.
I am forever grateful for the powerful women who have blessed me in my life. From the four beautiful women in my family that I was privileged to blossom with, to my ever-growing & ever-amazing girl gang, to the women of incredible strength who have come before me & paved the way for young women like myself to dream big, work harder & live a purposeful life.
This entry is dedicated to all of the ethereal goddesses out in the world creating a little chaos, celebrating their femininity & rocking their silk.
SO let's build our fellow sisters up, never tear them down. Let's slay the game together, for we are so much stronger together. Let's celebrate our differences, for they are what make us truly beautiful. Let's treat each other with care - for we are as precious as silk.
We may not be perfect, but remember that nothing precious ever is.
...& after all, if it's too perfect, well let's be honest...it's probably polyester.
